The traditional audiologs are everywhere, but a few of them are read by people with impenetrable accents, and Shodan doesn't sound nearly as creepy as she does in the actual games. The tutorial of System Shock 2 also let you walk around a street-level slice of Earth to contrast with the tight confines of the rest of the game, but Schneider's living city block full of traffic and high-rises is an early sign of the ambition her mods would display. In this final scene it's revealed that Rebecca has somehow been possessed by Shodan, which is demonstrated by her hair turning into wild electrical cables. Tommy and Rebecca, two characters only glimpsed through glass or heard via audiologs until this point, have escaped on a lifepod. After the villainous AI Shodan delivers her "join me and together we can rule" speech, our silent protagonist in goggle-eye sunglasses dramatically pauses and utters the only word he says in the entire game: "Nah." Then he slow-mo shoots Shodan, who wigs out like she's going through a bunch of YouTube reaction faces before exploding. Moreover, this walkthrough made us wonder… will we ever get a proper HD remake for this classic title? And if not, will there ever be a System Shock 3 game? One can only hope.A direct continuation of the story is an interesting decision because the ending of System Shock 2 is legendary: Legendarily bad.

Truth be told, it seems a little rough around the edges but then again, that was how System Shock 2 looked like back in the golden PC days. And yeah, like most of you, we’d love to see some enemies roaming inside, some combat scenes, some ghosts appearing out of nowhere and telling their stories… man, I do miss System Shock 2. SS2 Remake’s level looks identical to the one of the original game in – almost – every way. Keep in mind that everything in this video has been created by a single person. This basically means that we’ll be lucky if we get a polished version of this level. As with most promising mods, this might never see the light of day. So, as the title suggests, Mark Valentine has been experimenting with the Source Engine and has managed to recreate the first level of Looking Glass’ and Irrational Games’ classic FPS/RPG title, System Shock 2. But then again, this mod is still a WIP and the modder didn’t share anything else other than a video walkthrough of his first level. I also bet that some of you will curse me for reminding you such a classic game and for not including a download link. Oh I bet most of you will be excited with this.
